I Talked To The Dad Who Ran A Marathon Around The Children’s Hospital Caring For His Son With Cancer

Kolt and Andrew Codner

The day I wrote about Kolt Codner’s amazing story over on BroBible, I knew we had to have him on our running podcast, We Run This.

Kolt’s son, Andrew, has been a patient at Akron Children’s Hospital for the last six months. The 4-year-old is battling B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

When Kolt found out the Akron Marathon benefiting the Akron Children’s Hospital was changed to a virtual event due to COVID-19 – and not many runners signed up – dad decided to take fundraising into his own hands.

Kolt’s story is so moving, so emotional, and such a feel-good tale at a time when it feels like nothing is going right in the world.

We talked to Kolt about getting the news about Andrew, how the family handled the situation, how running helped him cope, all of the amazing moments on marathon day, and Andrew’s health now.

It was incredibly emotional – and I’ll be 100% honest – at one point I almost broke down myself.

Please give it a listen. Thank you.
