Parents Are Naming Kids After Instagram Filters

According to BabyCenter, thousands of parents are naming kids after Instagram filters.

Among the most popular filters/baby names — Lux, Ludwig, Juno, Reyes, Amaro and Valencia. The parenting site gathered data from over340,000 parents across theworldandsaid “the findings are unofficial.” Which means we should wait until the list of the most popular baby names according to the U.S. Social Security Administration is released sometime in 2016 before coming to the conclusion that an impressive portion of the population are immense shitheads.

I’ve discussed the dangers of giving children a dumb name before. I’ve even covered more than a few on the website. Like the kids being named after Star Wars charactersor someone from Hunger Games or Game of Thrones. These have all be awful ideas. And awful names.

Maybe I’m just jealous. Maybe I’m butt hurt because I don’t have a little Lux Illuminati to brag about at social events or will never know the shear joy of watching little Perpetua perform in her first dance recital. My only hope is that the trend ofnaming kids after Instagram filters continues until my kids grow to have kids of there own and one day I can bounce little Lo-Fi and Inkwell (they’re twins) on my knees and tell them of a time on a different and foreign planet, before grandpop lost his mind and blasted off in a rocket to anywhere other than Earth.
