Parenting Note #725: The New Normal

parenting note #725

It’s June 1st.

This date usually kicks off the countdown to the end of school and the start of summer camp.

School unofficially ended in March. Summer camp is canceled this year.

I joked on Twitter that 2020 has been so awful I don’t even remember what was so bad about 2019 anymore.

The country feels like it’s about to fall into a civil war, we’re still not out of a pandemic, and one of the more disturbing TV moments involved home haircuts.

I don’t care if barbershops are closed until 2021, I’m not cutting my own hair or trusting anyone in my family with a pair of clippers.

I’ve already made that mistake in life.

Three times.

I’m going to try and make the best of the situation.

This absolutely will be a summer the kids and I will never forget.

I just hope it’s for all the right reasons.
